In Japan there is a ECHONET standard which let all home appliance manufacturer implement the same standard into the electronics to communicate with each other. The final product will be linking all together and controllable through wireless phone.

Different home appliance can be connected to the center hub through the Local Area Network or bluetooth. You will be able to check the status of each connected device no matter where you are. Think about turn on the light, start the washing machine, on the aircon before you reach home, how cool is that!
