Last week we reported about a QR code development by a French company. Today Taiwan has made the first move by launching their version of QR Code called "Mobile Barcode".

The full implementation is supported by all the major telecoms in Taiwan, also includes Benq, Nokia and Motorola. They have been planning since year 2005. Phones with Symbian OS, Windows Mobile OS are demonstrated during the press event.

Features of Mobile Barcode

Allow you to read the information through the Mobile Barcode, and input the text to your sms or email.

The Mobile Barcode can be sent to each other and use as a discount coupon. Phones which are not compatible with the mobile barcode software can still use the coupon as long as it can display the mobile barcode on the screen. The computer will read the mobile barcode for the phones.

Mobile barcode is built based on the QR Code (Quick Response Code) and become a standard in Taiwan mobile services.
