Handmark today announced it has signed a content distribution agreement with The Associated Press. AP will provide news, photos, stock quotes and sports information for use in Handmark software applications, which will be delivered across a wide range of mobile platforms. Douglas Edwards, Handmark co-founder and executive vice president, said, "Handmark provides its customers with the information they need when and where they need it. News and information provided by AP is an excellent match for our mobile applications that can be used on a variety of wireless-capable devices, ensuring that our customers will have the latest and most reliable news available." The first Handmark implementation with AP content will be the award-winning Pocket Express wireless news and information bundle, which will be expanded to include up to 12 news categories including U.S. and world news, business, technology and strange news. Many stories will feature related photos. Pocket Express is available for a variety of wireless capable devices including Palm PDAs and Treo Smartphones, Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones, BlackBerry, and Java "features phones" from all major U.S. Carriers. Handmark also plans to feature AP content on a future application update available free of charge to all existing Pocket Express subscribers. |
