Macromedia today announced a licensing agreement with Samsung that will bring Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 to a world leading handset manufacturer.
"We are very proud to be working with Samsung who has become a global leader in mobile because of their focus on excellence in design," said Stephen Elop, CEO, Macromedia. "As Samsung mobile phones enter the marketplace with Flash Lite we look forward to working together to bring incredible new experiences to consumers around the world." Samsung will use Flash MX Professional 2004 to rapidly generate intuitive user interfaces and applications that can be easily deployed with Flash Lite 1.1 across handsets with differing operating systems, processors, browsers, and screen sizes. Samsung Electronics produces over 100 handset models each year, and has shipped 86 million handsets in 2004 in 45 countries. |

Samsung is using Flash Lite to deliver graphical user interfaces and rich interactive experiences on new mobile handsets around the world. The first Samsung handset enhanced with Flash Lite is available in Korea, other handsets will be available in other regions soon. Flash Lite is a version of Macromedia Flash Player specifically developed for mobile phones so consumers can benefit from the power of rich interactive Flash experiences. Subsequent Samsung handsets with Flash Lite 1.1 will be deployed in Europe, U.S., and Korean markets.
