Tegic Communications today announced the availability of version 1.2 of its Chinese T9 Phrasal Text Input (PTI) software.

Chinese T9 PTI version 1.2 offers advanced text input prediction that enables mobile phone and PDA users to quickly and easily write SMS text messages, mobile instant messages and wireless e-mails.

First released in August 2003, Tegic's Chinese T9 Phrasal Text Input software is phrase-based, versus single-character based, and most closely emulates the way Chinese users type on personal computers. It enables Chinese language speakers to use the preferred method of typing words as a continuous phrase, rather than asking them to type one syllable at a time, which is what most mobile devices demand today.

Chinese T9 PTI version 1.2 provides Chinese-speaking mobile phone and PDA users with new options that make typing and sending mobile messages faster and simpler than ever before. Among the upgrades are easy-to-use Jianpin input and an enhanced context prediction functionality that learns each user's individual pattern of typing text messages. These new additions join features added earlier this year, including single character stroke input, Pinyin and stroke reverse lookup, as well as an adaptable user database.
