AJ at MPx200.org has reported that the SCH-i600 update from Smartphone 2002 to a Windows Mobile 2003 based Smartphone OS may be available very soon. I quote from his comments:

"I've read in the newsgroups as well as some other online sources that a Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade has been approved for the i600. It's up to Verizon to release this upgrade, not Samsung."

"Here is the lastest I've gotten from samsung...looks almost the same as the
last one i recieved.

Thank You for your inquiry regarding the upgrade of your OS. Samsung and
Microsoft are currently in the process of working together on the upgrade
process for the device. The upgrade will be available in the near future.
More than likely, this will be in early 2004. Please check back periodically
for updates."

It seems pretty consistent with information we've previously mentioned, so perhaps those with the SCH-i600 will be lucky enough to see this update soon! We've previously speculated (with some confirmation) as to the release of the i700 and i600 in Australia, so this bodes well for Australian users - who may receive both devices with Windows Mobile 2003 from the outset!
