Smartfone.net can now exclusively reveal that the iPAQ h6300 will definitely be released - and we've got hard specs and a picture!

MTekk reports on MS Mobiles declaring the photo a fake and predicting the demise of HTC

Amazing all that comes from one article, thinks Matt M at MTEKK.com.au ...

Following Smartfone.net's exclusive photo of the hp iPAQ Pocket PC Phone, pictured below, MS Mobiles have declared it to be a fake , while in the same breath predicting that the phone itself will cause the death of HTC. I quote from the MS Mobiles article:

" Unfortunately the display in this faked photo has no antenna icon in title bar - something that in Pocket PC phones is always visible - independently from current status of the phone. The specifications and the text of the story have some technical errors and indicate misunderstanding and thus non-ambiguously indicate that it is a fake! "

Okay. Firstly, having spoken with the guys at Smartfone.net, I have ascertained there was a typographical error in the original article. This resulted in the wireless information reading "Wi-Fi TI OMAP Processor", when?"TI?OMAP?Processor" should have been on a separate line. Smartfone.net have since corrected their error, and requested that we do the same.

Secondly, to the matter of the "missing" antenna icon. I'm sure that the XDA II and i-mate users on this site and others can verify what I already know full well. A GPRS or ActiveSync connection results in the antenna being replaced by two horizontal arrows. In fact,?exactly like this:

The title bar from the iPAQ h6300 photo

The bottom notification area from the iPAQ h6300 photo

Both?photos?are enlargements of?different portions of the iPAQ h6300 photo shown at t he right hand side. The first comes from the top middle of the title bar - in fact, exactly where the antenna is displayed on an XDA II. The second comes from the bottom right hand notification area, and is an icon to depict that a connection - usually ActiveSync - is in progress.
