Carrier Devices have published a revised press release about the i-mate Phone Edition in Australia, while removing the original press release (dated December 30, 2003). I say revised rather than new. as they both have the same release number (CDL0014). It seems that they're very eager to get the word out.

Part of the text of the revised press release:

" Carrier Devices announced today the availability of the worlds most sleek and sophisticated Pocket PC . the new Windows Mobile. Pocket PC 2003, Phone Edition (i-mate. Pocket PC). With an intensive development process now complete, the new i-mate. Pocket PC is now available from Telstra and Vodafone. This announcement marks a first for Australia, and the start of an Asia Pacific wide rollout by Carrier Devices over the coming months.

Based on the Microsoft® Windows® powered Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition, the i-mate. Pocket PC is a PDA and mobile phone in one. Representing the peak of wireless device innovation, the i-mate Pocket PC is pure brilliance.

"We're very pleased about the enthusiasm and excitement already generated amongst global internet news groups & our local partner channels in anticipation of this launch", said Michael Cavey, Vice President Business Development, Carrier Devices Asia Pacific. "With this new product barely out the door, it's already set to become our most successful yet", he added.

In response to requests from customers on product availability timeframes throughout the rest of the Asia Pacific he commented, "Rest assured, we'll be rolling our new i-mate Pocket PC out across the Asia Pacific with great momentum. The product makes a perfect fit with the region's hunger for boundary redefining innovations".

Following on the success of the Qtek. 1010, the new i-mate. Pocket PC delivers a huge range of improvements such as world wide/tri-band connectivity, twice as much processing power, twice as much memory, a sharp 64K colour Transflective Touch screen, full MMS support, integrated Bluetooth., removable battery, advanced cradle with second battery slot and microphone for hands free speaking, internal antenna for a sleeker look and.. a built in digital camera. "
