Kevin L from MTekk gives us his take on a different offering in the mobile arena ...As an IT Manager, I was always looking for a way to make life easier for myself. And I get to play with all the cool toys. Somehow, I missed the whole PDA craze – no Palm, no iPaq, nothing. However, I have always had the latest mobile phones – 5110 in 1997, 7110 in 1999, 6110 in 2001. I also carry two phones at all times – one for personal and another for work, being the 24-hour contact.

Summary

Despite my few gripes, I love the phone. It gives me the PDA functions I needed, the cool feautres I always want, the absolute best pricing for my usage, and allows me to get on with doing my job. If I wanted a full featured data centre, I would have gone for something like the O2 XDA, but for me, that would be overkill and much, much more expensive.

Motorola A920 Overall Score

Good:

  • Lots of rich features
  • Amazing call plan
  • Next generation ready
  • Fully connected
  • Complete package right out of the box

Bad:

  • Takes a while to get used to
  • Needs a few support issues to be worked out
  • Missing one or two functions
  • Locked into dedicated content

Verdict:

A good phone for those who need a PDA/upgrade, or are heavy users. Lots of power and potential, but we need to see how well supported it is by the carrier - has the potential to go very far

Kevin's Score : 7.5 / 10
