Kevin L from MTekk gives us his take on a different offering in the mobile arena ...As an IT Manager, I was always looking for a way to make life easier for myself. And I get to play with all the cool toys. Somehow, I missed the whole PDA craze – no Palm, no iPaq, nothing. However, I have always had the latest mobile phones – 5110 in 1997, 7110 in 1999, 6110 in 2001. I also carry two phones at all times – one for personal and another for work, being the 24-hour contact.

Pricing

The main reason I switched was the cost. I ported my number from a very old Vodafone plan (OneSecond 49) and got $400 credit to my account on my 2nd bill. Cool. However, the main benefit is the $99 call cap. I didn’t buy outright ($499), so I will pay $32 per month for 2 years. So ignore that cost. I get flat rate calls – not the absolute cheapest, but great at 15c/30 seconds – and if it ever hits $99, thats it. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Not a cent more. For any Australian local or STD voice calls. SMS and international calls are extra, as is pretty standard. My bills went from $150+ on Vodafone to $80 in the first month, and the call cap kicked in the second month, dropping the theoretical cost of $200 to $99. Important to note though is that in BOTH months I was using the phone for approximately 15+ hours, which on Vodafone would have cost me $150 and $290 respectively. My old Vodafone plan was one of their best, and almost unbeatable even to this day. Overall I can say nothing but praise at the pricing, it was by far the best move I made and best feature to focus on.
