If you wanted to buy a Sharp Zaurus handheld, but the price for such toys was too high for you, now you have an excellent opportunity to get the Zaurus SL-5600 for just $300. It seems, Sharp is clearing up some market space for its newest SL-6000 series, and thus Amazon.com has lowered the regular price of $500 for the SL-5600 by $200.

The Sharp Zaurus SL-5600 runs Linux- and Java-based Qtopia OS on a 400 MHz Intel XScale processor. It has 32 MB SDRAM and 64 MB Flash ROM (it also provides some storage for PIM data and applications). You have both CompactFlash and a SDIO slots for expansion.

The screen is a 3.5-inch color reflective TFT running at the resolution of 240 x 320 pixel. In addition to standard application buttons and the cursor key, the handheld features a sliding QWERTY thumbboard, which hides under the screen when not in use. The SL-5600 is equipped with a 1700mAh replaceable Lithium-Ion battery.

The device comes with a suite of standard PIM applications, Opera Browser, email client, and Hancom Office. It is also bundled with an mp3 player and voice recording software. Intellisync for Zaurus allows you to synchronize with both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
