Customizing Ringtones for your Contacts from the SD Card is extremely easy - just follow these steps.

1. Create a folder on the SD Card called Sounds.

2. Copy all the sound files from the \Windows folder on the phone to this new Sounds folder on your SD storage card. Please make sure to copy all sound files, as they will be needed for everything from System sounds to Alarm settings. If you do not copy all sound files, your phone could lock up hard on all further incoming calls, requiring a Hard reset on your phone. It's very important, so don't forget.
3. Along with all the system and other sounds you copied from the \Windows directory, place all your custom ringtones in this folder.

4. Open your registry editor (Resco's Registry Editor as well as PHM's freeware registry editor both work well for this), and navigate to the following Registry Hive Key:

Current User>Control Panel> Sound Categories

5. At this point, you must change all the directory values that point to \Windows to \Storage Card\Sounds. You must do this for all values that you want to run off the Storage Card\Sounds directory.

6. Next, copy all contacts you want to have a custom ringtone for to your phones internal SIM card.

7. At this point, you are done with registry editing. All you need do now is go into your phone's settings menu, and select custom ringtones for all contacts that you would like to have special tones for. That's it.

8. If you have done all the above correctly, you will be able to load up any custom ringtones on the SD card and save your precious space on the phone memory. One downside: You MUST have the SD card in the phone at all times, as the phone will be looking for this directory whenever it is looking for these system sounds, or the custom ringtones. If it doesn't find these, it will mostly likely lockup completely, and users have reported having to do Hard Resets to get things back working normally again. With this one warning stated, hope you enjoy it.
