NTT DoCoMo announced today the nationwide release of the D900i, the newest model in the 3G FOMA 900i series, on June 23, 2004.

From press releases

The FOMA D900i's CCD honeycomb camera offers 1.92 mega-pixel recorded resolution and 1 mega-pixel effective resolution. It records and plays videos at up to 24 frames per second. The D900i connects to a normal TV set (via an optional cable) to play back videos and still images recorded with the handset.

Content saved onto a Memory Stick Duo can be played on the handset screen. The D900i is compatible with Memory Stick PRO Duo cards, which have four times the capacity of Memory Stick Duo cards.

The D900i, like other 900i models, handles Flash applications of up to 100K (compared to 20K in the 2G mova 505i series), and is equipped for richer, more sophisticated online games than ever before. In addition, Java-based i-appli applications offer a 400K scratch pad and up to 100K for content/archiving (compared to 200K and 30K, respectively, in existing FOMA models).

The 900i series, the most advanced series of FOMA i-mode mobile phones ever released, features a Macromedia Flash-equipped browser, HTML e-mail and avatar-capable videophone.

The D900i will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels on June 23. The price of the handset will be open (unfixed). The standard accessory kit, which includes a battery pack, AC adapter, desktop holder, 16MB Memory Stick Duo and adaptor, will cost 3,675 yen. The optional interchangeable decorative jackets cost 787 yen each. These accessory prices apply to the Kanto-Koshinetsu area, and may be changed in other locations by DoCoMo's eight regional subsidiaries. The prices shown above include tax.
