BT and Vodafone aims to offer customers cellphones that connects to a fixed-line system when used at home or in the office but elsewhere would switch automatically to Vodafone's wireless network. The "Project Bluephone", rely on Bluetooth chip technology, which creates a wireless connection to cellphones, computers and other devices over short distances. This is great because it eliminate the need to have more than one handsets. Alcatel, Ericsson and Motorola are supporters of the Bluephone project and has been running successful trials over the past two months. A soft launch may start as early as this summer, with a full launch later this year. Source Reuters.co.uk |
