China United Telecom (China Unicom), the world's third biggest mobile telecommunications carrier, said Monday it plans to release mobile phone handsets in mid-July this year with dual-band technology that shares data and voice service between GSM and CDMA users. China Unicom announcemented today that dual-band technology which shares data and voice service between GSM and CDMA passed preliminary tests. The company is still determining the price for the new dual-band cellphones.
Samsung, LG and Motorola are among the first three hardware vendors to produce the first batch of the hybrid cellphones. I speculate it won't be too long before the smartphone market will be next in line to be outfitted with the same technology. Source PeopleDaily |
