Nokia announced the new Nokia 6620 smartphone that is targeting the Americas market which is specifically designed for the EDGE networks. "Nokia 6620 Imaging Phone Combines the Productivity of a Business Tool With The Fun of a Multimedia Device".
The device seems to be extremely compact and easy to use. It weighs only four and half ounces. Synchronization is possible over the air or directly via a PC using cable, infrared or Bluetooth connectivity. The 6620 has 40MB of on board memory which is quit a lot for a phone, plus a built in MMC memory slot. The combination of mobile emails, over the air synchronization of data and fully integrated internet browser makes the 6620 one of the most ideal device for mobile professionals. The 6620 imaging phone is based on the Symbian OS-Series 60, supporting 65,000- color TFT screen for displaying images and clips. There's an integrated VGA camera and real-time video streaming over the EDGE network using the built-in RealOne mobile player. The EDGE -- or enhanced data rates for global evolution -- enables users to send and receive data at speeds of 100 to 130 kbps. This high speed network along with a built in internet browser give users full access to the internet.
