Whenever there is demand, supply shows up. That’s why nowadays we have a wide variety of alternative launchers available. Among them:
As you can see we do have what to choose from. Another question is how to choose. I propose that you consider the following criteria.
- FUNCTIONALITY as the main thing all of us seek for. It includes special features, know-how and other items that make every product unique. Additional plug-ins, modules, cooperation with other programs, file types supported will also be reviewed here.
- USABILITY FACTOR investigates whether all those features are easy to use. Indeed, if you don’t know how to use a function it simply won’t exist for you.
- INTERFACE is all about looks. Good looks actually. Do you like real true colors, high-resolution backgrounds, smooth shapes and transparency effects? All these and many other nifty trifles are discussed here.
- ADDITIONAL SPECIFICATIONS gives you a look at programs’, size, system requirements and devices supported, help and technical support. Extra bonus will be given for products offering separate versions of executables (PRC files, to be exact) for every type of devices.
Every criterion is limited to ten points that are given in accordance to fulfilling the user’s demands. Zero value meets Very Low, Three – Low, Five and Six – Normal, Eight – High and Ten corresponds to a Very High rank.
Although the aforementioned list is arranged in alphabetical order, the launchers will be reviewed in a free order as some of them are easier to write about, some turned out to be discontinued, some get updated relatively fast, and so on.
However, that’s enough of theorizing. Let’s get down to business.
