Nokia 6280 Review

For a start, you get to choose from 7 preset themes to customise the look of your phone. You also get to choose from 4 menu styles list menu, grid menus with and without labels, and a tab menu that displays contents of each submenu right away. Apart from the usual customisation of shortcuts tagged to the joystick and left-right selection keys, you can also look forward to its active standby feature.

Audio applications and other shortcuts like "silent" can be made into icons on the active standby screen. You can then navigate in this customised virtual environment using the directional joystick. Not only that; you can also put your calendar on this desktop, so you will be reminded of upcoming events every time you pick up your phone. Easy access of the music player is one great plus of the active standby mode.

If you choose not to use the active standby feature, you will have big space for whatever wallpaper you choose displaying at 262k colours and 320 x 240 pixels. Sounds good, but pales in comparison with other brands touting super bright displays with millions of colours.

The 6280 runs on WCDMA and tri band GSM, supporting video calls at a high speed of 384kbps. This translates to non-pixelated faces of your friends when you make a video call, unless they are trying to pull off Jim Carrey facial expressions. Put more simply, as long as the movement is not too much too fast, all's clear.
