Love. That’s the name of Nokia’s latest series of designer phones in French, and really, the notion can’t get any more mushy, or phones any more flowery. L’amour is a daring move by Nokia but certainly well-aimed.
There’re more messaging services than you’ll probably use – email, instant chat, mms, flash messaging (blinking words, not dhtml) and audio messaging. But one jarring flaw is this – you can’t program the phone to delete inbox messages automatically. Not to mention the hassle, but every time your accidentally let your inbox overflow, you risk missing an urgent message until it’s too late.
The themes and wallpapers that come with the phone are all alike in 2 ways. They are gold-ish, or they have flowers on them. Even its Nature Park game has a gold and flowery background and a soundtrack that tries to sound classy. Luckily there’s the normal looking Space Mahjong game to save us from all the poshness.
Other than these games, the phone also comes with a Yoga Coach to teach you a few yoga positions with fun animations. The ringtones given also veer towards a new age, jazz artiness in tandem with the whole image of the phone. A good thing if that’s your cup of tea. You can also download your own ringtones in 24-bit Polyphonic, MP3, True Tones and AAC formats. With only 4mb of built-in memory and no expansion slot, chances are you won’t be doing much downloading or video-recording, even though the phone is well engineered for both functions. It even packs in Java MIDP 2.0, one of the most versatile platforms for phone-web applications in this day.
The phonebook can store 1000 entries of 10 fields each, including photos that will show up when you get a call from these people. You can also record their names to be used for voice dialling. The call quality is very good, no problems at all. The user manual says battery has 14 days standby time and 3 hours talk time. In reality you find yourself charging about every 4 days with moderate use. The phone comes with a standard Pop-Port connector at the bottom, which can be used to connect to an earpiece and a USB cable. 7360 is not the best phone around, but many fashionistas would still rush out to buy it anyway. After all, whatever the phone lacks is well compensated for by its Chinese embroidery strap, its perfectly tailored to match leather-and-velvet pouch, its overall charming specialness that makes us tingle each time we pick the phone up.
