What began as a clumsy tool for executives has evolved into a means of personal expression. What am I talking about? The cellular phone of course. And, among these latest expressions from some great designers, the Motorola line truly stands out. Motorola SLVR. As a phone, the SLVR is a quad band, go anywhere unit. The phone uses Bluetooth technology (the older version 1.2) so you can hook up a headset or other device. But, don’t plan to listen to music with a Bluetooth headset because it disables the music player. Again, that's fair since if you’re going to listen to music you’ll probably want it in stereo anyway. I expect that customers will buy it for the excellent design style, will use it for music, calls, IM, and photos, and be very happy with the ease of use. Menus and controls are easy to understand and fast to use. Color screens guide you through the key features. Connection to the PC is seamless once you’ve set up the iTunes software, and you can drag photos to your PC to share with others, print, email, and so on. The SLVR connects with Apple’s iSync software on a Mac and Motorola Mobile Phone Tools on a PC to sync the calendar and contacts data. All in all, considering the price, style, music capability, and basic features, the SLVR is a likely winner as a cool tool for your own digital lifestyle.
