RTX will be unveiling a new device at this year's CeBIT which not only unifies both functions, but also has an integrated color display. The new LAN Cordless DUALphone is a session initiation protocol (SIP) device that combines a standard phone connection, Internet telephony and storage for Web content.

The base station is connected both to the conventional telephone system and to the broadband Internet link, thereby allowing calls from both channels. The LAN Cordless DUALphone offers customers on-screen information such as the latest news, e-mail, stock market data, weather forecasts, traffic queues or sports results–all displayed in real time on a brilliant color display. Availability depends on the services provided by the carrier concerned.

The LAN Cordless DUALphone's extensive functionality is not only an appealing alternative to conventional phones for consumers. RTX also creates attractive value added for carriers and phone operators who can exploit the inexpensive combination of phone and Internet access to combat falling sales and diminishing customer bases in the conventional telephony market.

Technical data:

  • VoIP standard: SIP
  • Wireless Standard: DECT
  • Display: Color display (64K), resolution: 128 x 128 bit
  • Operating time: 8 hours talk time, 240 hours standby
  • Range: Approx 300 meters in the open
  • Lines / mobile handsets: Up to three VoIP lines and up to eight mobile handsets
  • Phonebook: Up to 200 entries

The new RTX LAN Cordless DUALphone will be available for providers and carriers after the end of CeBIT.
