Patent documentation intotroducing GPay sms payment system
According to the patent documents, Google has submitted a patent request in February 2006 which covered, A computer-implemented method of effectuating an electronic on-line payment includes receiving at a computer server system a text message from a payor containing a payment request representing a payment amount sent by a payor device operating independently of the computer server system, determining a payment amount associated with the text message and debiting a payor account for an amount corresponding to the amount of the payment request, and crediting an account of a payee that is independent of the computer server system. By using the text message, shopper can send a text message (e.g. gpay Starbucks357 3.50) to pay for product, and the system will then notify the vendor on the payment verification through sms. To further verify the payment, vendor will have to do extra step to make a call to the system, or login to their online account to retrieve the detail. This is not going to be as easy as using a NFC phone or Felica Phone in Japan.
