The new Toshiba W44T music phone announced in Japan.

When you hear the name "Toshiba", you immediately think of various electronics. Yes, Toshiba is world renown for their large offering of almost any gadget, ranging from MP3 players to laptops. Perhaps one area where the company isn't as recognized, is cell phones. While no one will call a Toshiba cell phone a bad product, the company remains unproven in this genre. The new W44T phone from Toshiba may be the redeeming product that will truly get Toshiba on the cell phone map. Featuring most of the newest cell functions turned up a notch, this is a very impressive phone.

Starting off with the screen, the W44T has an unusually large display (for a cell phone), at a size of 2.6". The phone can apparently play music, although specific formats are unspecified at the moment. Impressively enough, the phone can play music for up to 19 hours, which is a lot better than some of those MP3 players out there. There’s a miniSD slot that takes up to 1GB cards, so you should have room for a small personal digital music library. Both Bluetooth and IR are included in the package, so you can use accessories, and maybe even utilize the W44T as a remote of sorts! Rounding out this awesome phone is a 3.2 Megapixel camera, which is quite high when compared to a standard phone.

The W44T really doesn't miss out on any of the last few "hot" features implemented in main stream cell phones. It can play music, interact with wireless headsets, take pictures in great quality, and view them on a large screen! Personally, I’m not really digging the actual design of the phone, but when you’ve got features this good, who cares about looks? The bottom line is that Toshiba rarely disappoints, and they have once again proven this. If you’re digging the design, and even if you’re not (and not too picky), this is one phone that’s at least worth a look.
