Motorola today showcases its first Bluetooth-enabled motorcycle helmet at Intermot - Europe's largest motorcycle trade fair which runs until 19th September 2004 in Munich. The helmet makes it possible for motorcyclists to easily make and receive calls via Bluetooth technology whilst driving, and continue conversations after getting off the bike.

Motorola has teamed up with Italian design company MOMODESIGN to develop the helmet, marrying MOMODESIGN's distinctive style and design with Motorola's technology expertise.

Motorcyclists will no longer get tangled up in awkward wires getting on and off their bikes. Taking and making calls is easy as all functions (answer, end, redial, voice dial and volume) can be made via the Bluetooth module on the helmet.

The Motorola Bluetooth helmet offers seamless communication, allowing riders to carry on talking when they get off the bike. A motorcyclist just removes the headset module from the helmet, attaches it to the neck loop and continues talking - no one will even know they have changed location.

The Motorola wireless helmet headset is manufactured with a noise-reducing microphone to help minimise traffic and wind noise when riding at highway speed, as well as a weather resistant cover.

The battery lasts for up to five hours talktime and 100 hours standby time, so you won't need to charge it too often. To recharge, the user simply removes the headset module from the helmet and plugs in.

The Motorola wireless helmet headset also will be available as an aftermarket kit.  The kit, containing the helmet adapter (microphone, speaker, cover), Bluetooth headset module, lanyard and charger, would easily attach to a consumer's own helmet with the included strong 3M adhesive.  Both solutions are universal, making them compatible with any Bluetooth enabled handset.

Availability is expected in early Q1 2005.
