Digital Act Corporation will release the "Campho Advance" that allows the Game Boy Advance to be used as a complete video phone system. July 07, 2004 - Digital Act has announced finalized Japanese release plans for its peripheral that turns the Game Boy Advance into a video phone. The company will release Campho Advance to Japan on 7/30 at a price of 19,000 yen. Once plugged into the cartridge slot of a Game Boy Advance, Campho Advance provides the GBA will all the functionality needed for video conferencing. The red Campho Advance unit has a camera and a slot for connecting to a standard analogue telephone. Plug the unit into a phone line, plug in the included AC adapter, and you're ready to go. Control over the phone is handled with the GBA buttons. Phone numbers can be saved to memory included with the unit.
Digital Act plans on producing just 10,000 units of this device for the 7/30 release date. Those looking for one will have to go through the Digital Act website, as a full retail release date has yet to be set. |
