Cingular Wireless has over 160+ markets that include 3G coverage. Speeds range from 400 to 700kbps.

Cingular has finally updated their 3G coverage map and according to the company 160+ US markets have 3G coverage. Of course this includes major cities and many metropolitan areas. On some phones, that support 3G, you will not notice the distinct icon that indicates 3G coverage which is displayed as a ‘U’ (as in UMTS), but some phones may show an alternate letter to indicate you’re in a 3G coverage area.

Cingular has not posted all of the major markets but you can always check to see if your city or destination is located in the 3G coverage area. You will notice 3G coverage on the map when you zoom into city level and click “Show 3G Coverage”. The coverage map is located below for your convenience.

They are claiming their 3G network will offer speeds from 400 to 700kbps on average. By default when 3G is not available your phone will switch to Cingular’s national Edge data network.
