Wiremedia today announced that it will begin deploying the hardware and network infrastructure necessary to deliver location-based, advertising and contextual information to cell phones via Bluetooth technology. The company will launch the service with a comprehensive, proprietary technology infrastructure, multiple partners and customers. The company intends to make a big impact on the $300 billion dollar worldwide out-of-home advertising market. Rich, Dynamic Content and Secure Applications Mobile users with any common mobile phone or handheld device (Cellular handsets, Palm Treos, and Pocket PCs) can receive rich, dynamic content such as interactive guides, movie trailers, digital coupons, color catalogs, product reviews, news, alerts, transportation schedules, real estate listings, audio/video clips and more. There is no risk of downloading viruses or malware to the phone because executable code is never transmitted via server to the mobile phone. As a precaution, the system uses the phone's native download interface so that users should be able to see the kind of file they are downloading before accepting it. Intuitive and Costless for End-Users Wiremedia's solution is based on Bluetooth, the standard platform for short-range networking; the Bluetooth Mediaserver can deliver content 10 times faster than downloading it via a mobile network. And since the content is delivered direct from our system there are no network charges for the brand and no data airtime charges for the consumer. Pages (2): « First « 1 [2] |
