In a move of utter stupidity T-Mobile launched a 3G handset today. For those of you that still don’t get wherein the stupidity lies, it would be in the fact that T-Mobile is not a 3G network.

The phone is nothing special, but its available in a few stores in NYC. What, or more specifically who, is special is whoever had the bright idea of releasing a 3G handset sans the whole 3G network thing.

Apparently they did buy some spectrum that is specifically for their 3G network, but they don’t have it yet. As in, the government won’t give it up just yet, so they could have a 3G network real soon if the bureaucrats get off their asses and give it up, but its not looking good.
