NTT Docomo has created another environmental friendly mobile phone NEC N701i ECO. The phone was announced in August and now in different edition. The phone plastic body is made from plant raw materials consist of starch and sugars of corn and potatoes. At the end the mobile phone will become water and carbon dioxide after disposed.

The chart shows the process of making environmental mobile phone body by using plant. About 75% of NEC N701i ECO body are done using this process. NEC use their own technology to further strengthen the material.

There comes a disadvantage to protect the environmental. The cost to make N701i ECO is more expensive the original N701i. NTT DoCoMo is trying hard to put the N701i ECO's price tag closer to the normal version price.

Other than the price the N701i ECO has the same functionality as the N701i. It will be compatible with the i-channel service and all standard FOMA services and functions, including videophone, ChakuUta ring songs, ChakuMotion ring videos, Deco-mail decorative e-mails, i-appli JAVA and Macromedia Flash applications.
